YOU HAD TO BE THERE... More than 100 call center managers and executives gathered in Tampa,
Florida for three days of networking, education and fun at the IAREs 15th Annual Conference & Exhibition,
April 30 May 3, 2000.
The conference opened with an inspiring keynote
address presented by Art Berg. The world-class wheelchair athlete shared his insights
about service and contribution through his message, "The Impossible Just Takes a
Little Longer."
Monday morning kicked off the annual Center Meetings. One of the foremost benefits
of the IARE Conference, participants gathered each morning for two-hours of facilitated
discussion. These groups -- Small, Medium and Large/Mega, based on size of the call center
-- shared ideas and solutions with other center managers from around the continent. Notes from these meetings are available for download on the MEMBERS ONLY section of the our web site.
The conference workshops on Performance Management,
Customer Service and Sales Training provided new strategies and a fresh
perspective. Other sessions included tips for preventing and protecting employees from Violence
in the Workplace, and a glimpse at the Technology in Our Future, in the home as
well as the work environment. Roundtable sessions hosted by fellow IARE members and
suppliers focused on the pertinent topics of Sales Training, Blade Technology,
Optimizing Resources and Call Center Facilities Design.
The Supplier Showcase was one of IAREs best -- more than 15 key supplier partners
demonstrated the latest in call center products and services during refreshment breaks and
workshop sessions. (Click

Guided center tours to three Tampa area call centers
-- Hilton Reservations Worldwide, Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines -- provided an
opportunity to see other call centers in action.
Conference participants also had plenty of opportunity for FUN a round of golf
at the IEX Golf Tournament; a tour and lunch aboard Carnival Cruise ship SENSATION;
an outdoor reception with great food and the Jamaican sounds of Jamba Balaya (hosted by Assessment Solutions, Inc.); panoramic views and a tasty lunch atop CKs Revolving Rooftop
Restaurant, compliments of Quality Track
International; plus roller coaster rides, arcade games
and a delicious dinner hosted by AT&T at Busch Gardens theme park.
While the success of this years event will be hard to surpass, the IARE
Conference Committee is already working on plans for the 2001 Conference.
Mark your calendar NOW and be sure to include this event in your 2001 education plans!

business, there is so much to know
and so little time to learn it. Change is our constant
and relentless companion. Thanks to technology, the distance
between us has vanished.
IARE provides us with a network
for sharing ideas, for learning from each other as well as the
through the organization itself, and for helping us to stay ahead of the curve.
