President's
Message
By Michele Rowan, Vice
President of International Operations, Hilton Reservations
Worldwide, London, England
Greetings, all!
I hope you had a fantastic summer and got some vacation time in. I
was able to take off three weeks (love the European vacation
benefits!!) and get some great traveling done throughout Europe. My
only problem is that I come back with a big head of great memories,
but more tired than when I left – who moved my cheese and took my
relaxation time??
Five months from our
conference, your Board has been hard at work. We received feedback from
you as an output of the conference as follows:
-
You asked us to add training webinars to
the IARE Web site for access at all times.
-
You also requested a technology section
to the web site where IARE Allied members will provide articles
on the latest technology in the Contact Center environment.
-
And, you stressed the
importance of offering
valuable networking through Regional Meetings in the United
States and International Meetings throughout the world.
From your suggestions, our action
items include:
-
Our Communications and
Technology Committee is working on adding webinars in
partnership with our Allied Members to provide educational
content at no cost to IARE Members.
-
As the 2007 Annual
Conference gets closer, we will be working with our Allied
Members to provide articles on the latest technology, so you can
confidently research the industry. IARE will help put you in
touch with experts in the Contact Center industry.
The IARE is not-for-profit as
you know, so all of our time is voluntary. With that, we take a
very careful, targeted approach with our initiatives. Our objective
is to focus on the top two or three that will deliver the greatest
value proposition to our current and prospective members.
Some important highlights:
-
We need to build our
membership base. There are many of our colleagues in the
industry who have no awareness of IARE, and we need to change
that. So we’ve put together a member referral program, whereby
up to three people with Guests will win trips to Cairo, London
and Paris. Can you refer one new member? Sounds easy to me –
let IARE pay for your next holiday!
-
Regional conferences are
going to be available in local geographic areas and soon by
national audio on specific subjects. You’ll hear more about
that soon from our Communications Committee.
-
Tampa is going to be an
INCREDIBLE conference. We are going to do more work this year to
expand benchmarking time and we’ll do it by track. This means
that more of your sessions will be scheduled with others in your
direct competitive set and within your range of position. Content for the conference is taking shape and its leading
edge, current event issues. Lots to learn and exchange. And
finally, the social activities being planned in sunny Florida
are too much fun to list here. Watch for further details in the
next months!

Networking, The Added Benefit
By
Leesa Williams, Director of
Reservations, Accor North America, Columbus, Ohio, USA
Developing a new training
program, incentive or looking at new software and want to hear what
others in the industry are doing?
Networking and sharing is a
cornerstone of our organization. Being able to build programs and
capitalize on the expertise and experience within our industry will
help you save time and better gauge your outcomes as you are in the
development stages.
I have found myself sending
e-mails to several or picking up the phone to ask questions on all
of the topics above. Our environment is constantly changing and what
we thought we would never encounter is now our current
challenge. Being able to help your own organization by increasing
your awareness through your connections is very valuable.
We recognize how valuable our
time together at the conference is, and how much we gain by being
able to have “networking” discussions. As a member you have access
to colleagues that are willing to share and trade information as
events occur.
We need
your feedback! Our committees are exploring the idea of regional meetings,
using new technology
to save on travel costs. We're also evaluating open conference calls with
predetermined topics or agendas. Please share your thoughts on topics you are facing today,
share
your ideas by emailing
iare@assnoffice.com.
